Judicial Activism

Hi Class, I always love it when something we discussed pops right up in the news the following week. You may have noticed this article in the New York Times today. It's all about "judicial activism:" what it means, and how much of it has been on display in the Roberts Court.

New Supreme Court Term

As Cecile pointed out in her comments to the previous post, there are lots of articles about the Supreme Court in the news these days. The Court is just beginning its new term, so expect to hear a lot about important cases the Court will hear. The New York Times reviewed some of the big cases coming down the pike. You can find that article here . Cecile also mentioned an article where notable constitutional law scholars were discussing possible ways out of the debt limit impasse. That article can be found here. Keep your eyes out for news stories about the Court and the constitution -- I guarantee this Supreme Court term will be an interesting one!

Welcome!

Welcome to LAW 200 -- Constitutional Law. While teaching this course, I've found that I often receive interesting emails, questions, links, and comments from students between classes. Rather than forwarding everything along piecemeal, I've created a blog that everyone can post to and check regularly. Feel free to post comments, questions, links to news stories, or whatever else you find interesting between our Thursday meetings. I hope this forum will allow us to continue our discussions between classes. To add additional content to this blog, simply comment in response to this post. Best, Cody Harris
